A 14-year-old secondary school pupil has been remanded by Ikeja chief magistrate’s court until he can fulfill his bail condition for defiling a seven-year-old girl.
The Chief Magistrate D. Abegunde asked the accused to pay N300, 000 bail and that he should be remanded in the Boys Correctional Centre, Oregun, Ikeja, until when the bail condition is met.
The boy, (Names withheld) broke into a toilet to meet his neighbour’s daughter who was defecating to have carnal knowledge of her.
The magistrate later adjourned the case till June 5 and directed that the case file be duplicated while a copy be sent to the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP for advice.
The police prosecutor, Raphael Donnyn told the court that the boy committed the crime in December 2016 and ran away from home before he was later arrested somewhere in Agege.
According to the prosecutor, the victim’s noise from the toilet made her mother to rush to the place, only to discover that her daughter had been defiled with blood stain on her pant.
Effort to arrest the suspected rapist proved abortive as he ran away from home until the hands of the law caught up with him in Agege area of the state.
“He committed the crime in Bariga and ran to Agage,” the prosecutor said.
