20 Die In Kaduna-Abuja Auto Crash
An auto crash that occurred on Kaduna-Abuja Expressway Sunday night has claimed 20 lives.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps in Kaduna State, Umar Ibrahim, said that the accident happened at Dutse U-turn, 22 kilometres from Kaduna metropolis at about 7pm on Sunday.
“The accident is between a white Toyota HAICE bus with registration number: XA-866-MLF and another white DAF articulated vehicle with registration number: AJ-G118-XA,” he said.
According to him, the bus was overloaded with 30 passengers of 29 males and a female when it collided with the articulated vehicle on its way to the southern part of the country.
“The truck that was coming from Abuja axis and was trying to make a U-turn at Dutse when the bus coming from Kaduna axis rammed into it, killing 17 people instantly,” he said.
He noted that 10 of the passengers who sustained various degrees of injury were rushed to the hospital where three of them were confirmed dead by the doctors on duty.
An eyewitness told our correspondent that the truck was on its way to offload some cattle from another truck that developed fault along the expressway when the accident occurred.
