2016 FELABRATION STARTS TODAY WITH SECONDARY SCHOOLS DEBATE
The annual “Felabration” which is an event that celebrates the life and works of the late Afro-beat legend, Fela Anikulakpo Kuti begins today with a debate involving secondary schools which will be staged at the Freedom Park, Broad Street, Lagos by 10 am.
“Felabration”, the annual week-long festival has drawn a lot of public interest since its inception and people from all walks of life are always part of the event which has also drawn international acclaim.
The topic for the debate this year is “Reparation, Yes or No,” will have students from secondary schools in Lagos state compete against themselves.
The celebration proper will then continue on October 10 with a symposium which has been tagged Movement Against 2nd Slavery, at the NECA House, which is close to the African shrine Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
Speakers for the symposium include Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, Lemi Gharioku, Ms Afiong Afiong and Adebola Williams, and the event will be chaired by Mrs Sofia Oyewole.
The celebration will continue till the 16th of October with musical concerts which will have numerous musicians performing at the New Africa Shrine in Agidingbi, Ikeja Lagos daily.
A carnival to commemorate the event will also hold in Ikeja on October 15.
