A top official revealed that Delta State government got assurances from the NFF president that one of the Nations Cup qualifiers will be staged at Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, where the Twenty-first African Athletics Championships is currently taking place.
The official said the NFF boss believes the stadium has one of the best playing pitches in the country at the moment.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Basketball Federation has relieved senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress head coach, Sam Vincent of his job.
The decision, taken after extensive consultations and assessment of the team’s progress in camp in Atlanta, United States, comes less than two months to the Twenty eighteen Women’s World Cup in Tenerife, Spain.
The NBBF said it considered Vincent’s numerous conflicting commitments which have continuously affected his duties as the coach before taking its decision.
Assistant coach, Peter Ahmedu and Shola Shomala will take charge of D’Tigress for now.
