35 Million Metric Tonnes Of Petrol Arrives Apapa
A new vessel, named Captain Gregory, arrived in Apapa on Wednesday morning, laden with about 35 million metric tonnes of petrol, a top staff of a Lagos-based oil marketer has said.
The official (Names withheld) told our correspondent that with more importation of the product by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC and distribution to major oil marketers, scarcity will disappear in few days.
He stated that Nigerians will celebrate the New Year with an adequate supply of the Premium Motor Spirit.
As he put it “If supply can be consistent like this, things will get better and people should be able to celebrate New Year without fuel scarcity.”
Also, the Major Marketers Association of Nigeria, MOMAN has confirmed that its members have been receiving product from the NNPC and it is being discharged into various filling stations for sale.
The members include MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, Total Nigeria Plc, 11 Plc, Forte Oil Plc and Oando Plc, Conoil Plc.
The Executive Director of MOMAN, Mr Obafemi Olawore, said that the NNPC has been giving the product to his members and that he expected it continue until all the queues at the filling stations disappeared.
