A Country Where PDP Propagates Calumny And APC Defends It
Nigeria News takes a look at the allegations, counter-allegations that permeate the campaigns of the two major political parties ahead of 2019 polls in the country.
This is the second time that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been outed for pushing out gross falsehood as Gospel truth. And it is not good for this young democracy at all!
The first was the fallacy that Buhari has appointed Amina Zakari as INEC’s National Collation Officer. They also claimed the woman is Mr President’s niece. It has since been proved beyond reasonable doubt that both allegations, cooked up by the opposition party are false.
The packaging of an audio tape said to be the voice of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is even worse. The tape was doctored, with critical contexts erased, to use Amaechi in rubbishing the APC and Buhari. The truth has also surfaced.
It is now very clear that either the PDP as a body or some despicable elements within the party are working to destroy this young democracy through incitement. This is wrong, and very wrong too. Yes, you can promote a party. You can even deploy propaganda to push out the dirty part of the other side. But, as a rule, it is despicable to manufacture facts in pushing claims you want the public to believe.
For now, ANYTHING from the PDP or persons belonging to the party will not be taken very serious that the news the party is churning out are being refuted with facts and evidences.
A continuous association with falsehood could force people to conclude that PDP if given the opportunity again would finish this secondary with deceit and falsehood. PDP should change its ways.
However, there is always an element of fact in every rumour, so one will not want to throw away the allegation against Amaechi and the filial relationship between President Muhammadu Buhari and Zakari in its entirety.
As at Monday afternoon, the news that the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the Director General of the PDP presidential Campaign Organisation, Senate President Bukola Saraki met in a closed-door to discuss Zakari was still flying.
On the same day, Amaechi who was alleged to have attacked Buhari in an audio tape was the one who led the president to the inauguration of the APC presidential campaign council in Abuja.
The president and the Director General of his party campaign organization, Amaechi were seeing throwing banters perhaps to make mockery of those who edited the viral audio on Amaechi.
I can never be surprised or disappointed if the APC comes out and puts up a defense for Rotimi Amaechi, the party is good at that. The members have always been united in error and progressing backwards.
In all of these, Nigerians are the one that will suffer when the parties that are supposed to campaign on how to redirect the economy are busy with campaign of defamation of character.
All what Amaechi were alleged to have said are facts of course but PDP is supposed to come up with the modalities to change the situation through a robust manifesto, instead of campaign of calumny.
