A Female Bomber ‘Zara Idris’ Arrested In Borno
A suspected female bomber one Zara Idris has been arrested by the Borno Police Command while lurking around the Bakassi Internally Displaced (IDPs) camp in Maiduguri.
The arrest was carried out at about 6:50 am Tuesday as she hid behind the camp and planted a bomb there.
According to a statement by Edet Okon, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in Maiduguri, the suicide bomber was arrested by men of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team.
He said that the bomb had since been diffused while the area cordoned to prevent any calamitous event at the camp.
The statement signed by Okon read, “on Tuesday, at about 6:50 a.m., a female suicide bomber was sighted behind Bakassi IDP camp in Maiduguri metropolis. “On sighting the bomber, conventional policemen alongside the EOD team swung into action and cordoned the area, to prevent the escape of the bomber into the city.
Okon said that the suicide bomber had since been kept in the police custody as he called on residents in the area to be more vigilant about strange movement.
He asked them to raise the alarm whenever they notice a new face lurking around the community.
