Again Herdsmen Kill 11 In Benue Fresh Attack
Suspected herdsmen have killed eleven (11) persons in a fresh attack on Tombu Village in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The state Governor, Samuel Ortom, confirmed the renewed killings today.
He recalled that two days ago, four persons were killed in Guma Local Government.
The governor commended the heavy presence of the police as well as the military in the state to prevent a recurrence of such incident.
He, however, lamented that more than 40, 000 people have been displaced for fear of unprovoked attacks.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris has placed all state police commands on red alert and ordered 24 hours crime prevention and visibility patrols across the country.
The IGP also ordered commissioners of police in charge of Benue, Rivers and neighbouring states and their supervising Assistant Inspectors General of police to beef up security and prevent further attacks on innocent Nigerians.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in zone four in Makurdi and zone six in Calabar have been mandated by the Inspector General of Police to convey stakeholders meetings in the affected states.
