Again, Kaduna Govt Sacks 4,562 Incompetent Teachers
The Kaduna State Government has sacked 4, 562 teachers recently recruited over incompetence.
The state Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Ja’afaru Sani, said that the teachers had been issued letters of disengagement from the state service.
He stated that the affected teachers had found their ways into the system through the back door and had been exposed by screening.
According to him, the sacked teachers could not write a letter of acceptance after they had been offered the jobs.
“This made the government to conduct another screening where it was discovered that 4,562 teachers were not competent and they have to be dismissed immediately,” he said.
Last year, the state government sacked over 22, 000 teachers for failing competence test. After much pressure, the government gave them another opportunity to reapply.
The commissioner said that almost all of them reapplied and sat for the competency test out of which over 15, 000 passed but when they were asked to write acceptance letter, only 11, 335 could do so without assistance.
He said that the state would not give any chance for incompetent teachers as it prepares to provide modern tools to improve the education of its pupils.
