Aisha Alhassan, the Former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development won the United Development Party (UDP) governorship primary election to become the party flag bearer in Taraba State.
On Tuesday, Dr Olusegun Adeleye, the Returning Officer and National Publicity Secretary of the party declared her as the winner of the governorship primary after she got 246 votes in the election which took place in the state capital, Jalingo.
In 2015, Alhassan contested for the governorship position of Taraba State but lost to the PDP governorship candidate, Darius Ishaku.
The Former Minister initially joined the governorship race under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but decamped the party after she was screened out without giving any reason. She resigned her ministerial position, after which she joined the UDP.
