Akwa Ibom Govt Sacks Commissioners For Receiving Akpabio
For receiving the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio at the Aiport, the state Commissioner for Labour, Productivity and Manpower Development, Mr Ibanga Akpabio has been sacked by the state government.
The governor of the state, Emmanuel Udom also approved the sack of the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr Victor Antai. Both are to quit the state Executive Council with immediate effect, according to the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Charles Udoh.
Ibanga, who is a younger brother to ex-governor and erstwhile Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, was sacked alongside Antai.
Akpabio arrived the Ibom International Airport for the All Progressives Congress, APC mega rally where he is to officially announce his defection from PDP today.
According to the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Charles Udoh, the two commissioners were fired because of alleged gross misconduct and non-compliance with public service rules.
“With the development, they have been mandated to hand over to the Permanent Secretary in their respective ministries before close of work on Wednesday, August 8, 2018,” he said.
