Alhassan’s Comment on Buhari Throws APC into Confusion
There is confusion in the ruling All Progressives Congress over the statement of the Minister of Women Affairs, Senator Aisha Alhassan on President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday.
The minister had said in a video that went viral on social media that she would resign if Buhari tries to seek re-election in 2019 presidential poll.
The minister said that she would pitch her tent with former vice president Atiki Abubakar who is aspiring to run for president in 2019.
She said that Abubakar was her godfather and would not blink to support him whenever he is ready to roll out his campaign machine.
Since Alhassan said this, the government had been caught unaware as no official could react to the comment.
Asked to comment on the issue, the Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina said, “No comment”.
The Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed was dumbfounded as he could not say anything when journalists approached him for comment.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi told journalists that he could not say anything now until he had met with chieftains of the party.
In the video, Alhassan had led delegation to Atiku during the Sallah festivity where she described the former vice president as the incoming president comes 2019.
