Ambode Okays Recruitment of 2200 Teachers
The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwnmi Ambode has officially approved the recruitment of more teachers to the tune of 1, 200 for the Junior and Senior Secondary schools in the State.
The Deputy Governor of the state, Mrs Idiat Adebule made this known, adding that the new addition with the earlier 1000 recruitment would make it 2, 200.
Recalled that the governor had promised to recruit teachers at the last quarterly Town Hall meeting in Ibeju Lekki to meet up with the manpower required to cover all public schools in the State.
Many schools do not have enough teachers, according to findings by our correspondent.
The deputy governor supervises the state Ministry of Education. She stated that the guidelines for the application would soon be released for impending teachers to apply.
She said that with the recruitment, the government would have solved two problems at the same time and this include provision of employment and of course aiding of teachings and instructions in many of the schools.
Adebule, however noted that the performance of the students of public schools had improved in the last few years and this had shown in the various competitions they attended locally and internationally.
