APC Chairmanship: Odigie-Oyegun Carpets Oshiomole’s Endorsement
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has described as childish the endorsement of the former Governor of Edo State, Mr Adams Oshiomole to succeed him as the next chairman.
The Edo State chapter of the APC last week endorsed Oshiomole even though the former governor had not publicly declared his ambition to contest.
Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, Odigie-Oyegun said that the endorsement is childish, adding that elections of party officials are usually done at the national congress and would wait for that time to come.
Oyegun noted that he had consulted widely within and outside the party on whether he would contest or not, saying, “The consultation has been concluded and I will let the journalists know soon about my plan.”
Meanwhile, in Lagos, the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has urged all the present party officials in the state not to contest again.
He said this at the party secretariat on ACME Road, Ogba, Ikeja on Tuesday. He called on them to give chance to other members who are also aspiring to lead the party.
