APC Group Kicks Against Fayemi’s Governorship Ambition
A plan by former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi to contest for the coming gubernatorial poll in the state is being threatened by a group in his own party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The group, the Concerned APC Patriots, said that the former governor lacked credibility to contest again because of an allegation of financial misappropriation against him.
According to the group coordinator, Ife Olu-Olubusuyi, there are plans by the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led National APC officials to impose Fayemi on Ekiti.
He said, “Fayemi is not eligible because of a White Paper that has indicted him for alleged financial impropriety by a judicial panel of inquiry set up by the current Ekiti State Government to probe Fayemi’s administration.”
The group stated that Fayemi who is now the Minister of Mines and Steel Development had been barred from holding public office for 10 years in the white paper.
CAP warned that it would not mind seeing the APC, the party it had worked hard to build, disqualified from participating in the July 14 election.
According to the group, this will be a reward for the party for shunning the pieces of advice given to it not to field a candidate with alleged tainted integrity.
Reacting, Fayemi’s spokesman, Yinka Oyebode, dismissed the group as a faceless group not known to the APC in Ekiti.
