APC Secretariat Shut By Police, DSS In Bayelsa
The Operatives of the Department of State Service and men of Nigeria Police Force have shut the State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa.
This followed the crisis in the party in which the state chairman Tiwei Orunimighe, and two others were suspended.
Orunimighe; his deputy, Eddy Julius; and the secretary of the party’s chapter in the state, Marlin Danlin were suspended by the National Working Committee of the APC on Thursday.
The committee said that it had taken the decision because the suspended members had been involving in anti-party activities and gross misconduct.
At the party’s state secretariat along Yenagoa – Mbiama Road on Friday, scores of riot policemen and DSS officials had been stationed there.
Meanwhile, some members of the party, including a factional chairman of the party, Joseph Fafi, believed to be loyalists of the former state governor, Timipre Sylva were seen at the secretariat.
It was gathered that those suspended were fraternizing with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
They were alleged to have collected some money from the state government to frustrate the efforts of the APC in clinching the state in the next election.
