Argentina Fans Want Coach Sacked After Team’s Loss To Nigeria
Many fans of the Argentina football team have expressed their disappointment after the team’s loss 2-4 to Nigeria national team, the Super Eagles on Tuesday.
Both teams played in a friendly match in Krasnodar, Russia but the fans took to their social media platform calling for the head of the Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli.
Argentina had beaten Nigeria in four competitive games and one friendly while yesterday’s defeat made it twice that Nigeria would defeat the two-time world champions.
In 2011, Nigeria whitewashed Argentina 5-1 in a friendly that the world football body, FIFA described as a scam, adding that it was fixed.
The friendly was rescheduled and Argentina won by 3-1.
Yesterday match started well for Argentina with a 2-0 lead before the close of the first half but on the 45th minutes, Leicester striker, Kelechi Iheanacho scored making it 2-1.
The second half saw the super eagles dominating the Argentines with three more goals from the Arsenal Striker, Alex Iwobi and a Russian based Nigeria striker Brian Idowu.
It ended 4-2. Some of the Argentine fans wanted their coach sacked as they criticized the former Chile coach as an error.
