Benue Killings: APC Indicts Ortom
Barely one week that the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, the All Progressives Congress has fingered him in the herdsmen killings in the state.
The National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomole, while briefing journalists in Abuja on Friday said that the defected governor had been found to have sponsored some of the ethnic clash in the state for political capital.
He said that despite the release of relief funds of N10 billion, the governor had failed to pay workers’ salaries instead he had continued to fuel herdsmen/farmers clash.
Oshiomole explained that the APC leaders in the state had observed how poor Ortom had been running the government in Benue and that if given a second term he would ground the state.
The former Governor of Edo State stated that Ortom actually crossed to PDP for personal ambition so that he could rule for the second term despite his incapacity.
It would be recalled that Oshiomole had a meeting with Ortom prior to the governor’s defection where he described Ortom as a star in APC.
A few days later, the APC chairman came out to say that Ortom was not fit to rule Benue anymore.
