Bid To Recall Dino Melaye Gathers Momentum
The bid to recall Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial District of Kogi State has been gathering momentum as members of its constituency collect signatures for his recall.
Our correspondent who monitored the situation observed that people from his senatorial district, which include Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Lokoja, Kogi, Yagba East, Mopa/Amuro and Yagba West are now compiling their signatures to recall the senator.
They were mobilizing themselves with their voters’ cards to recall Melaye who had been at loggerheads with the State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
Senator Melaye had accused the governor of corrupt practices and pointed out that the governor had diverted statutory allocation instead of paying workers’ salaries.
The senator recently raised the alarm that the sole administrator of Ijumu Local Government Area, Taofiq Isah where he hails from wanted to kill him.
While the allegation was pronounced, unknown assailants invaded the senator’s residence in Lokoja shooting sporadically at the building.
The collection of signatures started in Lokoja and Kogi local government councils on Friday and continued at Ijumu, Yagba West and Yagba East on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Melaye, in his reaction to the bid to recall him from the Senate, has accused the governor of “shooting the moon and boxing the air.”
