Both Buhari And Obasanjo Are Co-Travelers – Fayose’s aide
Mr Lere Olayinka, the media aide to Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Olusegun Obasanjo are allies and co-travellers.
He told the Senior Special Assistant to the president on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu to steer clear of the governor and not drag him to the messy fight between the former and the incumbent president.
Olayinka called on the Federal Government to make haste in probing Obasanjo over alleged squandering of $16 billion on electricity project between 1999 and 2007.
As he put it, “Both Obasanjo and Buhari are allies and it sounds absurd to say that Buhari did not partake in the corruption that happened under Obasanjo’s regimes.”
Olayinka explained that Buhari was the Minister of Petroleum during Obasanjo’s military headship between 1976 and 1979. He alleged that about $2.8 billion developed wings to a London Bank under Buhari then.
Olayinka asked if president Buhari ever knew that Obasanjo squandered $16 billion on electricity before visiting him in Abeokuta, Ogun State to ask for his endorsement in 2014.
“Both of them are allies and fellow despots. Fayose should not be dragged into Obasanjo and Buhari’s case,” he said.
