Boxing: Larry Ekundayo To Defend IBF Title In Lagos
Larry Ekundayo will defend his International Boxing Federation European title in Lagos, his commercial agent, Ben Gray, has disclosed.
Gray said this during a reception for Ekundayo at the Nigeria High Commission in London on Thursday, an emailed statement on Sunday by the Director of Africa Division of Peel Aston Global, Khomeini Bukhari, said.
Ekundayo’s agent stated that the boxer would fight in Lagos and London before aiming for a world title, adding that the fights would be used to draw company executives and senior business people to attend business summits organised by the Nigerian Diaspora Direct Investment Summit.
Gray explained that about $2m would be raised from private and public organisations to drive the economic partnership between UK and Nigeria.
He said, “The specifics of the plan involves Ekundayo defending his title in Lagos and London before fighting for a world title in Lagos and using these fights as an attraction to invite CEOs and senior business people to attend business summits at the same time organised by the NDDIS.”
Gray added, “My team and I will be reaching out to similar visionary organisations from both the UK and Nigeria to take advantage of this great opportunity.”
The agent said former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu had promised to support Ekundayo’s career with an unspecified sum of money.
