Boy, 10, Abducted, Exchanged For 3 Bags Of Rice in Ijegun Area of Lagos
A 10-year-old boy was abducted by unidentified man, taken to a rice store and exchanged for three bags of rice in Ijegun Area of Lagos on Monday.
Investigation revealed that the suspected abductor had accosted the boy at Prince Bus Stop, Isheri Oshun, while on the errand for his mother.
The unidentified man introduced himself to the boy as his cousin and that he should show him a rice store in the area so that he could buy some bags of rice.
On getting to the store owned by a lady, who identified herself as Deborah, the suspect bargained for three bags of rice at N16, 000 each.
He told the sales girl to load the rice inside a commercial tricycle, “Keke Marwa” and that he would go and bring the money while the boy waited for him at the rice store.
The suspect eventually left with three bags of rice while the boy was waiting with the sales girl at the rice store.
After about one hour that the unidentified man had gone, Deborah asked the boy to take her to his mother’s shop so that she could collect her money but was dazed when the boy said he never knew the suspect.
On getting to the boy’s mother whom herself had been searching for her son, it dawned on Deborah that she had just been robbed of three bags of rice at N48, 000.
She narrated her ordeal and reported the case at the Ijegun Police Division where the boy and his mother were interrogated.
The boy was later released but with the instruction to report to the station the next day until the police conclude their investigation.
