Breaking: Fifteen APC Senators Defect To PDP
No fewer than 15 senators of the All Progressives Congress have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party.
This happened at the plenary this morning. The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki read the names of those that defected at the plenary.
He said, “The following Senators has announced their defection from APC to PDP, according to the letter sent to the President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
The defected lawmakers include Sen. Tejouso, Sen. Shaaba, Sen. Gemade, Sen. Melaye, Sen. Shittu, Sen. Rafiu, Sen. Shitu Ubali, Sen. Isa Misau, Sen. Hunkuyi, Sen. Monsurat, Sen. Danbaba, Sen. Nafada, Sen. Nazif, Sen. Musa Kwankwaso.
However, Senator Ahmad Lawal turned down the option of defection when his name was mentioned alongside the 15.
He was booed by the defected senators, who said that the Senate leader had earlier agreed to defection but changed his mind at a late hour.
The fifteen members of the Senate including Senator Dino Melaye Kogi East cited party division as one of the reasons for their defection.
This now brings the total number of PDP senators in the Senate to 64 while the APC senators are now 45 in number.
