Breaking: Police Fire Teargas At Anti-Buhari Protesters, Injure 1 Person
As the anti-Buhari protest continues in Abuja this morning, the police have fired teargas canisters to the protesters and injured one person.
The protesters comprising various Civil Organisation Groups had gathered on Monday, calling for the return of President Muhammadu Buhari or his resignation.
Buhari has been in the United Kingdom for over 90 days now and during their protest early this morning, the groups marched on the major street of the Federal Capital Territory, asking him to resign.
However, the police, in a bid to disperse the protesters fired canisters into their midst where they were having meeting at the Millennium park opposite the Unity Fountain, Maitama, Abuja.
One of them fell and badly injured. He had since been rushed to a clinic at the Federal Secretariat complex, a few kilometres from the scene of the incident.
But the extent of his injuries could not be immediately ascertained.
The coalition members were having their sit-out when the armed policemen fired tear gas canisters to disperse them.
At present, the protesters had been dispersed but there were no signs that they would leave the place as many of them stood their grounds to face any threat from the police.
