British-Nigerian Joshua Beats Parker in Cardiff
The Cardiff fans were delighted on Saturday as the British Anthony Joshua beat the New Zealander Joseph Parker as the Briton moves closer to becoming an undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
It was a match that saw Parker control round one of the 12 rounds bouts on Saturday.
But after the 12 rounds, Joshua was the better fighter, beating New Zealander Joseph Parker on a unanimous points decision.
The three judges scored it 118-110, 118-110 and 119-109 to Joshua, leaving only Deontay Wilder’s WBC title still to conquer.
The unification bout gave Joshua 21-0 with 20 Kos.
After 20 previous knockouts, Joshua went all the way to win on points in the 12 rounds for the first time against Parker in his professional career.
He has since added Parker’s WBO belt to his own IBF WBA Super and IBO titles.
“Today I got beaten by a better champion, a bigger man,” he said.
“I’m going to come back stronger. No regrets, take it on the chin. Better man on the day.
“I would love to have another go.”
