Buhari, Osinbajo, Kyari Shun Alhassan
It appears the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Alhassan may have stepped on toes as President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari refused to see her on Thursday.
The minister was seen at the Presidential Villa barely 48 hours that she announced her support for the former vice president Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambition but she was not well received.
Alhassan usually visits the Aso Villa to discuss official issue with the president, the vice and the chief of staff but on Thursday, none of them could attend to her.
Investigation revealed that the three deliberately shunned her over her allegiance with Abubakar who had signified his intention to contest in 2019 even if Buhari shows interest.
Alhassan had said that she would resign if Buhari would be contesting for the second term in 2019.
Asked if she was able to see the president or vice president, Alhassan said no. Asked how the president would react to her comment, Alhassan said that she might not know since she could not meet him but added, “The president is not a naïve person.”
However, she told journalists that she stood by her comment and that Abubakar remained her godfather in politics.
Alhassan who was in a hurry to enter her waiting car directed journalists to go and see her interview with the BBC Hausa and seek a good interpreter for all she had said about 2019 election, Atiku and Buhari.
The minister had said in the interview that Buhari only promised to run a term to clear the mess of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, adding that she would resign if the president ventures to contest again.
She stated that she was not afraid of losing her position, adding, “God gives and He takes.”
