President Muhammadu Buhari will travel to the United States next week to address the United Nations Assembly.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu who confirmed this Sunday night said that Mr. Buhari had been scheduled among the seven leaders to address the assembly.
However, Shehu could not say precisely when the president would be travelling but the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly holds September 19, 2017 in the US.
Shehu said, “I cannot tell you the time he will be going because it can change but I know he is expected to be the eighth speaker at the UN. So, he will be there and he will speak.”
Other leaders that had been listed to speak at the assembly include that of the United States, Brazil, Guinea, Jordan, Switzerland and Slovakia.
If Buhari eventually makes the journey, it will be his first official outing since he returned to the country from London after medical vacation.
Buhari only attended the Federal Executive Council meeting once and also spoke in the public during Sallah in Daura, his home town.
He had been delegating vice president Yemi Osinbajo on most of the public fucntions.
