Buhari’s Mission In London – Garba Shehu
One of the motives behind President Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to the United Kingdom on Monday is to hold discussions on Nigeria – British relations with Prime Minister Mrs Theresa May.
President Buhari who will be attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government meetings that will start on 18th April 2018 will also use the opportunity to meet Chief Executive Officer of Royal Dutch Plc.
Mr President will also use the occasion of the trip to meet his good friend the Archbishop of Canterbury, The Most Rev. and Rt. Hon. Justin Welby.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu on Sunday.
According to the statement, President Buhari will leave Abuja on Monday 9th April 2018 for an official visit to Britain where he is due to hold discussions on, prior to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings scheduled for 18th to 20th April 2018.
It said that Buhari would have a discussion with Mr Ben van Beurden, the Chief Executive Officer of Royal Dutch Plc, in connection with Shell and other partners’ plan to invest $15b in Nigeria’s oil industry.
“These investment ventures will lay the foundation for the next 20 years production and domestic gas supply, bringing with it all the attendant benefits both to the economy and the wider society,” it said.
