Burning SUV “Jeep” Throws Lagos In Heavy Traffic
Thousands of Lagos commuters were stranded on the roads early this morning due to heavy traffic along Third Mainland Bridge.
A brand of Jeep car exploded at the Ogudu Bus Stop towards Third Mainland Bridge, leading to heavy traffic that lasted for about three hours.
According to eyewitnesses, the Jeep somersaulted and later exploded but the driver and other occupants survived the accident.
The officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority. LASTMA, came to the scene to control vehicles movement while the state Fire Service struggled to put out the fire.
However, it was a standstill scenario for Lagos Island bound vehicles. The traffic later spread to Toll Gate, 7UP Bus Stop.
Many commuters had to alight from the vehicles to find an alternative route to their destination.
Tuesday is the first working day after long Easter Holiday and it turned out to be stressful early in the morning.
As usual, commercial vehicles quickly capitalized on the gridlock to increase the cost of transportation.
