Chaos in Adamawa as Fulani Herdsmen Kill 3 Policemen, 2 others
Assailants suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have attacked Kwayine Community in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State, and in the process killed five people which include three mobile policemen and two civilians.
Scores of other people have also been injured as the community is said to have been completely burnt down.
The men were said by an eyewitness to have invaded the community on Saturday night when the residents were just gone to bed.
A gun battle ensued between the herdsmen and the police guarding the area before the police were overpowered and the men had access to the community.
SP Othman Abubakar, the police command’s Public Relations Officer in the state confirmed the incident even as he mentioned that four rifles belonging to the policemen were also missing.
Governor of the state, Alhaji Mohammed Bindow condemned the attack even as he praised the security forces for their gallantry.
He released a statement via the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, where he directed security agencies to deploy more personnel in the area to aid in efforts to keep the area safe.
He assured residents of his administration’s resolve to restore peace to the affected areas and protect the lives of every citizen.
