Christmas Air Blows Everywhere
After the annual praise and worship tagged “The Experience” at the Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, on December 1, Christmas air has not stopped blowing in Lagos.
Business outfits, shops and many corporate headquarters of companies have changed their looks with Christmas trees and colourful decorations to usher in the yuletide season.
Schools, Hospitals, public and private places around Lagos Island and Mainland now wear new looks with flowers both artificial and natural.
Asides, children troop to amusement parks to catch funs with their teachers and friends. There is the loud noise of joy everywhere.
An investigation revealed that many companies would close for the year on December 18 as they organize Christmas carol to present gifts to their clients and members of staff.
However, parents complained that most private schools used the season to extort them. “I pay N5, 000 for each of my kids to participate in the party. Last year the school collected N3, 000. It is too much,” a parent who simply identified herself as Moji said.
But to a school proprietor, Mrs Bolanle Akano, “My school charges each pupil N2, 500 for the party. We give them gifts from this and also provide a sumptuous meal for them. We also take them to a cinema where they get to see movies that are educative.”
