Chukwuemeka Emenike, Another Five Persons Die In Rivers Cult Clash
No fewer than six persons died when rival cult groups clashed in Port Harcourt Rivers State on Monday.
Leader of the Deygbam, a dreaded cult in the state, Chukwuemeka Emenike was beheaded while his body was thrown into the drain at Rumuekini, Obio/Akpor council.
Another five cultists were killed at Omerelu community in Ikwerre council of Rivers State.
According to investigation, the clash at Omerelu happened because those who beheaded Emenike displayed the decapitated head on the East-West Road area of Rumuosi.
This led to serious shooting from the rival cults in which five cultists were killed. They included Amadi alias Too much Money, Okechukwu Enyindah; Timothy and one other, simply identified as Scatter and Bobo, popularly called Banigo.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DPS Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the death of Emenike, describing him as leader of a cult group and that his death could be related to cult activity.
“The victim is a notorious cultist in the state by name Chukwuemeka Emenike. “He is one of the leaders of Deygbam in the state. His body is in the mortuary for autopsy.
However, he said that the police could not confirm how many cultists died in the second clash but that they would investigate the clash to unravel the killers.
Cultism has permeated Port Harcourt in the last few years and this is the second vice beside militancy that the government has not been able to contain.
