Commercial Driver Commits Suicide Over Unpaid Loan

Nigeria News - Commercial Driver Commits Suicide Over Unpaid Loan In Ondo

Tragedy struck at Oke Ibukun, Ondo town, Ondo State on Saturday when a commercial bus driver, simply identified as Ayokunle allegedly committed suicide.

Investigation showed that Ayokunle drank poison and died in his room on the fateful Saturday because he could not pay back the loan he took from a cooperative society.

The source said the deceased was an executive member of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria in the town.

“We are all surprised that Ayokunle could kill himself. I saw him on Friday. He was talking to one of our members. Nobody ever suspected that he could be planning to kill himself,” a member of the RTEAN told our correspondent.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Femi Joseph, said the matter was not officially reported at any police station in the town.

Joseph said that he had contacted the police division where the incident had taken place but there was no report of a suicide. “Maybe they will report later but for now, nothing like that,” he said.
