Court Fines Evans’ Lawyer To Pay N500,000
The Federal High Court in Lagos has fined the lawyer standing for notorious kidnapper Chukwudidumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans in the sum of N500, 000.
The lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje lost a case involving before Justice Ibrahim Buba as the judge dismissed two fundamental rights applications filed by him.
Ogungbeje had represented two of his clients, Messrs Chidinma Ozurumba and Kenneth Chukwuemeka Ajoku in a case against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
His application was dismissed for being frivolous and lacking in merit,
The judge also awarded a total cost of N500,000 against the two petitioners.
Recalled that the same lawyer had filed a case on behalf of Evans against the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and two other for illegally detaining his client in custody.
He asked the court to pay his client N300 million damages for detaining him without charging him to court for alleged crime of kidnapping levied against him.
