Cross Rivers State Set to Host Miss Africa
All is now set for the beautiful city of Calabar to host the maiden edition of Miss African Beauty Pageant as 30 beautiful ladies arrived at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar.
The ladies who are representing 30 different African countries were received warmly by a delegation from the government of the state even as the state governor, Ben Ayade welcomed the ladies with an address.
The theme for the pageant is “Climate Change” and is organized by the Cross River State Government to draw global attention to issues of climate change and other related environmental issues.
The governor who also just arrived from Morroco with the president where they attended the just concluded United Nations conference of parties COP 22 in Marrakech, stated that the beauty pageant is a new addition to the state’s vast tourism offerings.
He further stated that the pageant is a warm embrace to Africa and more importantly, will create a platform to discuss the fate of Africans.”
In his words, “the Miss Africa Beauty Pageant is a platform for the expression of intellectuality, capacity, unity, strength, vitality and the energy Africa represents.”
He drew parallels with the pageant and the just concluded summit saying that the relevance of the focus on climate issues is timely.
Some participants hailed the state government for their efforts in promoting the beauty in African ladies.
