Cult Clash Claims Three Lives In Ogun State

Nigeria News - Cult Clash Claims Three Lives In Ogun State

A fresh cult clash has claimed the lives of three persons in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State on Thursday as residents fled their homes for safety.

The investigation revealed that the rival cult members attacked themselves early Thursday morning when one Mr Owolabi, alias Aburo Obasanjo, was hacked to death at the station garage area of the town around 4 am.

A source said that two other cult members were killed at Ojowo section of Ijebu-Igbo during the attack.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said only one person was killed in the clash but not three.

According to him, just one person was found dead in a location within the town in the morning with machete cuts.

In the last five weeks, no fewer than nine persons had been killed due to cult activities in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State.

In one of such killings, which occurred in the first week of April, four persons, including a Police Inspector, were hacked to death in a clash between a cult group and people suspected to be members of Oodua People’s Congress, OPC.

The police, however, said that 34 people had been arrested in connection with cult activities in the town and they are arraigned before the magistrate.
