Cultists Invade Eku Police Station, Free Members
Scores of cult members on Sunday night invaded the Eku Police Station, in the Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State to free some of their members in the police custody.
The cultists who arrived the station at about 9:30 pm shot repeatedly into the air to scare the residents and of course to chase the policemen on duty away.
They succeeded to free their members as the police officers on duty fled due to the sophisticated weapons that the cultists brought to the place.
It was gathered that the hoodlums injured some of the policemen on duty.
“They dressed in black and carried various weapons, including guns and knives,” an eyewitness said.
It was gathered that 15 of their members were locked in the police cell and they freed them all because the police officers on duty fled the scene.
Besides the fact that they had come to free their members, it was gathered that the hoodlums also used the occasion to rob passersby of their personal belongings like neck chains, telephone handsets and cash.
However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Andrew Aniamaka who confirmed the attack said that there was no suspect in the police custody when the hoodlums struck.
