Dapchi Girl: No Easter Celebration Without Leah – Father of Abducted Girl
Mr Nathaniel Sharibu, father of Miss Leah Sharibu has said that the family will not be celebrating Easter without the release of his daughter from the captivity of Boko Haram insurgents.
Leah was held back by the terrorists for refusing to convert to Islam. She was abducted alongside 110 other pupils of the Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State and yet to regain her freedom.
Nathaniel who is a police officer in Yola but recently deployed in Yobe said that his wife was not in good frame of mind since the abduction of the girl and that she fainted when Leah did not return with other 104 pupils released by the terrorists.
The father of three lamented that he had not heard anything from the government, adding that he had continued to pray and fast for the safe return of his eldest child.
As he put it, “Only my friends and extended family members have been calling to pray for us. I don’t know, which action to take again.”
Nathaniel stated that the Easter Holiday is around but Leah is not at home. “I don’t even think of celebrating Easter but the safe return of my child,” he said.
Recalled that five (5) of the 110 children abducted by the terrorists died while they were being taken away from their school in February.
