Dapchi Schoolgirl: Northern Christians Urge Buhari To Rescue Leah Sharibu
The Congress of Northern Nigeria Christians CNNC has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to expedite action in rescuing the only Christian girl, Leah Sharibu of the Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State who is still in the custody of Boko Haram.
The CNNC made this call at a news conference on Monday, saying that while it commends the effort of the government on the rescue of the other 104 girls, its joy can only be full with the release of Sharibu.
According to the spokesman of the CNNC, Larry Yammai, the only Christian girl is in danger at present and the government must find every way to free her from the custody of the terrorists.
Sharibu had refused to denounce her Christian faith and convert to Islam. The Christian group said that it had shown clearly that the motive of the Boko Haram was to destroy Christianity.
It also noted, “For Sharibu to remain in the captivity of the Boko Haram till now is an indication that the terrorists want to wipe out Christians” Yammai stated.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the government would ensure that Sharibu is rescued.
