Dapchi Schoolgirls: Parents Withdraw Children From College
Some parents whose children are in Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State have embarked on mass withdrawal of their kids.
Our correspondent gathered that the parents did not believe in the government security operatives, whom they alleged had conspired with the Boko Haram insurgency to abduct their children.
The Boko Haram terrorists broke into the college last Monday and kidnapped 110 students whose whereabouts are yet unknown.
However, President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the deployment of more troops to the area to rescue the pupils, the parents were not satisfied with the handling of the situation.
No fewer than 110 students were kidnapped, according to a list released by the government on Sunday.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and his counterpart for Interior, Abdurahmon Dambazau are currently in Yobe to liaise with the state government on the way forward.
One of the parents who spoke with our correspondent said that they had formed an association and their resolve was to withdraw their children to a safer school.
He said, “We do not believe in this troops. If they had come as soon as we informed them about the kidnap, the children wouldn’t have been kidnapped. We suspect they have hands in it.”
