Demolition of APC Secretariat; Act Of Impunity – Sani

Senator Shehu Sani (APC Kaduna Central) has described an act of tyranny and impunity the demolition of the secretariat belonging to a faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Kaduna, Kaduna State.

Raising a point of order at the plenary on Tuesday, Sani cited order 43, alleging Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai of giving the order to demolish the building.

He said, “The governor personally led and supervised the demolition of the new APC Office and Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi’s residence without notice.”

Sani condemned the act, describing as an abuse of power and office.

He said, “Democracy does not come with this type of tyranny and impunity. I condemn this act and hope it doesn’t happen again.”

Reacting to this, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu who presided over the plenary also condemned the demolition as he sympathized with the owner of the building, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi.

“There must not be an abuse of power and office, there’s a limit to the patience of our people. I sympathize with the Senator Hunkuyi who lost his building,’ Ekweremadu said.

Deputy Senate President, however, referred the order cited by Senator Shehu Sani to the committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions.
