Disturbed By The Race Behind The Leopard, “Amotekun”
ElevateNews still sees the fear in some ethnic groups over the inauguration of Amotekun.
Hisbah, the northern police and Civilian JKF must be rejoicing by now because “Amotekun” has been declared illegal by Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice.
The Western Nigeria Security Network, “Operation Amotekun” is like a thorn in the flesh of those who want to continue perpetrating crime in the creek and jungle of Southwest Nigeria.
Malami does not see anything wrong in the inauguration of Hisbah because is serving the agenda on which he became a minister.
The sluggishness of a leopard is not the sign of cowardness. That the leopard walks quietly should not also make the antelope to stroll. The herbivore may end in the belle of the carnivore.
Malami and those in this same train with him know that Yoruba race will not start a project without perfecting its strategies. The plan of the Yorubas is to have built its own drones and created Apps that will monitor its land in two years.
As I wrote last week that the hater of Amotekun is the Federal Government and would do anything to kill it.
I was expecting the Federal Government to kick against Amotekun not because the security outfit is illegal but because it will truncate the agenda of the current administration.
There are millions of better lawyers across the country that could effectively manage the country justice ministry but Malami is the most qualified for the agenda of the present administration.
That is why Hisbah is legal and Amotekun is illegal. It is due to the race behind the leopard not even the leopard itself that has made the northern army to develop cold feet.
The Yoruba race. It is a race that fights not with gun and arrow but brain and logic.
Of course, the Yoruba did not call for civil war when his son MKO Abiola was killed by the Northern army; it did not call for civil war when, Mrs. Olakunrin, the daughter of the Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti was murdered by herdsmen, neither did it call for war when Chief Olu Falae’s farm was detroyed by herdsmen and the old man was kidnapped.
While still licking the wound, the governors of the six states of the region went ahead to create Amotekun, the Southwest kind of the Northern civilian Joint Task Force as defined by the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
But the number one law officer, Malami suddenly became uncomfortable because he thinks that the Amotekun is targetting the marauder herdsmen who are his clan but disgruntled set of human beings.
“Law is not made in Malami’s office”, the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has said.
Malami has allowed his personal agenda to becloud his role as the Attorney General of the Federation.
He sees himself more as the Attorney General of the Northern people, making himself more illegal to be in that office.
As the Aare Ona Kakanfo, Iba Gani Adams put it, Malami acts more like a sectional Attorney General, forgetting that he is the Minister of Justice for Nigeria.
Amotekun has come to stay. Declaring it illegal may turn out to be the defining moment in the politics of this country.
As a matter of fact, one of the agenda of the present administration is restructuring, which encompasses the creation of State police. Why has it not implemented this laudable idea?
Even though there is no yet a law to create State police, the Amotekun as stated by the governors is not a parallel security outfit to the police but a complimentary security outfit to improve the collation of intelligence.
Perhaps, the Malamis are afraid of the powers beyond AK47 rifle that the Yorubas can boast of.
I think the best way for the Federal Government to control Amotekun is by ensuring it does not use modern guns and also train the personnel to fortify security instead of an outright ban.
Instead, the minister declared the inauguration of the leopard as illegal. He should prepare to defend this at the court because his personal view will never be taken seriously by those who formed the leopard.
