Dr Segun Oni May Dump APC
The former Deputy National Chairman, Southwest for the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr Segun Oni has threatened to dump the party if the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Dr Kayode Fayemi fails to treat him and his allies with respect.
Oni said this after he was defeated by Fayemi at the party’s governorship primary held in Ado Ekiti last Saturday.
Fayemi polled 941 votes ahead of Oni, who polled 481 votes, among other 31 aspirants in the primary.
Oni noted that some of his supporters had reported Fayemi’s camp to him on how they were being treated with disdain, adding that he would not take such disrespect from them.
“We are not scavengers and we are not scavenging. I may dump the party if I’m not accorded the necessary respect that I deserve,” Oni said.
The former Ekiti State Governor said that he had the responsibility to protect his supporters and that he would make them relevant as long as he is in APC.
According to him, the APC candidate, that is Fayemi must be magnanimous in victory to carry every party member along. ‘This idea of winner takes all must not be allowed,” Oni said.
