One Clement Ekuase has been arrested by the Edo State Police Command for allegedly killing an 87-year-old man in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the state.
According to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Johnson Kokumo, the suspect is a driver to the octogenarian, identified as Pa Nosakhare Omo-Osagie.
He said that suspect dumped the body of his victim in a pit toilet after he had killed him.
The police commissioner said that so far two people had been arrested in connection with the killing and that they would be prosecuted.
He was said to have clubbed the old man with a pestle and took away his vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz wagon which was given to him (deceased) by his children.
The suspect was said to have later sold the vehicle to a herbalist in Ovbiogie village and told the late man’s children that their father had been kidnapped.
He told the children of the deceased that the kidnappers had demanded N2 million ransom.
The children, according to findings paid N1.5 million to the driver. However, he ran out of luck when the relatives of the deceased visited the home and found his decomposing body in a pit toilet.
Ekuase was arrested when he came to collect N500, 000 purported ransom for the kidnappers.
