DSS Arrests Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe
Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, who stands as surety for the runaway, leader of the Independent People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has been arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS.
Abaribe who is representing Abia South in the Senate, according to report was arrested in Abuja on Friday in connection with the N100 million bail bond he signed for the leader of the Independent People of Biafra, (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Last year, the senator appealed to the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to discharge him as Kanu’s surety as he has not seen nor heard from Kanu since September eleven, twenty-seventeen.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party says the arrest of senator Abaribe has confirmed its earlier alarm that the APC-led Federal Government has commenced a total clampdown on the opposition and perceived opponents of the government.
In the meanwhile, the Federal High Court, Abuja (FCT) has fixed Oct. 4, to hear and address on a no-case submission by Nanle who is a son of a former Plateau Governor, Joshua Dariye.
On June 13, the father bagged 14 years imprisonment for embezzling state funds.
Reports officially show that Joshua Dariye is being prosecuted by the EFCC – Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on a six-count amended charge of money laundering in the sum of N1.5 billion.
At the resumed trial on Friday, the third prosecution witness, Effa Imoh-Okim, and the prosecutor, George Adebola closed the case of the prosecution.
