DSS Lopsided Recruitment: Senate Committee Ordered To Probe Allegation
President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki has given his nod to the senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs to probe the allegation of lopsided recruitment by the Department of State Security, DSS.
He gave his nod, following a point of order by the Chairman, of the committee, Senator Tijani Kaura (APC, Zamfara North) that he has received hundreds of petition over the alleged lopsided appointments.
To the senate, there is need to investigate the issue so as to establish the principle of Federal Character and to build confidence for Nigerian youths.
According to Kaura, some of the petitions revealed that a total number of 51 slots were allotted to Katsina State alone out of the 479 candidates that were recruited.
He said that the number allotted to Katsina alone was higher than all the whole of the Southeast put together, adding that the committee would need to carry out holistic investigation to unravel why it was so.
The senate was of the opinion that the exercise must be based on equity, justice and fairness to bring confidence and sanity to all Nigerians.
Commenting Saraki mandated the committee to investigate the alleged lopsided appointment, adding that there is need to correct every wrong and put it right in the interest of the country and the citizens in general.
