Economic Diversification: Heavy Rains Excite President Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed joy for the abundance of rains this year, adding that it will boost agricultural economy.
He said this when National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit at the presidential villa, Abuja.
He told the monarchs that he would have gone on exile if rains had not been enough to boost agricultural produce and harvest.
“I have been thinking about which country to run to but thank God for the abundant rains last year and this year. The information I receive is good about our harvest,” the president said.
Buhari called on the traditional leaders to use their office to appeal to all Nigerians to live in peace and unity.
He said that Nigeria with the largest population of black people on earth should be able to use its number to boost economy instead of engaging in internal rancour.
“All hands must always be on deck to secure this country from disintegration while our constitution must be strengthened to ensure that our people live together in peace and harmony,” Buhari stated.
He said that despite all acrimonies, God had continued to answer the country’s prayers with enough rains to grow the economy.
Last week the National Bureau of Statistics said that the country was out of recession.
