Eid-El-Kabir Festival: Muslims Celebrate Eid-El-Kabir

Muslims across the world celebrate Eid-el-kabir today with prayers and fanfare.

This is in remembrance of Prophet Ishmael who was ready to lay down his life down in obedience to his father Prophet Abraham and Allah the creator.

Allah eventually replaced him with a ram, which was slaughtered in his stead.

Today Muslims in Nigeria join their counterparts around the world to celebrate the faithfulness of both prophets to God.

As usual, the Muslims will troop to the praying ground for ‘Eid prayer after which they will come back home to slaughter ram for merriment to begin.

In his Salah message, President Muhammadu Buhari called on Muslim faithful to use the occasion to pray for Nigeria for unity and peaceful co-existence among the citizens.

Buhari arrived his home town, Daura in Katsina State on Wednesday and was welcome by the State Governor, Aminu Masari.

The president urged Nigerians to embrace the Salah period and live according to what Prophets Abraham and Ismael preached, which is faithfulness and sacrifice.

In his message, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode commended Nigerians for their sacrifice despite economic recession and urged them to learn from the sacrificial lives of Prophet Abraham and his son Ishmael.

He called on Lagos residents to celebrate with the Muslims as they mark the Eid-el-kabir festival today.
