Eight Dead As Strange Disease Hits Kano
About eight persons have died when a strange disease ravaged Dungurawa village, in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano state.
According to a resident, who simply identified himself as Mr Mutair, the disease has killed five children below seven years old and four young men between 13 and 25 years old.
He said that the deceased complained of a headache, fever and stomach pain before they eventually died and that there are a few others who are currently sick now.
A resident that lost three children Malam Suleiman Musa Tafida who was emotional said his third son died this afternoon after losing two other children to the strange disease.
As he put it, “Khadija and Umar were my two children. They died on Saturday while Ibrahim died on Monday.”
He told our correspondent that Umar died at home and Khadija died in the hospital.
The Ward Head of the area Malam Dahiru confirmed the situation noting that they have informed the health department of the local government calling for help from the state government to address the situation as the whole village has being thrown into confusion.
Efforts to speak with the state Commissioner for Health Dr Kabir Ibrahim Gwarzo on the situation proved abortive as his phone line was off.
