Ekiti Gov Election: Elders Forum Appeals To Stakeholders To Allow Peaceful Poll
The Ekiti Elders forum is appealing to stakeholders to ensure that the July 14 governorship election is conducted under a peaceful environment to enable the best and acceptable Candidate to emerge victoriously.
At a well-attended media briefing held in Lagos, the Igbimo Ure Ekiti led by Prince Julius Adelusi – Adeluyi said the election must devoid of violence. “There should be no to violence because an election is not a war,” the group said.
The Elders appealed to the Traditional Rulers to ensure that thugs are not recruited for the election through their domains.
It also appealed to the election Observers from various interest group to be totally impartial and turn-in credible reports during the election.
To the police, the Elders called for vigilance, fairness and even-handedness,
They also appealed to President Buhari to ensure that Armed Forces are not involved in an electoral process. The Elders appealed to the Religious Leaders to support the election with Prayers.
For them, the purpose of the Press Conference is to say No to rigging, No to violence, No to thuggery, No to killing, No to arson, No to ballot-box Snatching but yes to one man one vote, orderliness, the spirit of sportsmanship and tranquillity.
